It was first discovered during a visit of the first author in February 2020 in the Montagne d’Ambre National Park, in the Diana region of Madagascar (formerly Antsiranana), which is situated at the extreme North of the country. Only one flowering plant could be found and only pictures were made. When it appeared that the species was undoubtedly new and quite distinct, a new visit in the same place was organised in April 2024, with the second author who collected samples which have been deposited in Tsimbazaza (herbarium TAN). In 2025, three specimens labelled <term

>Many and sincere thanks to the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris for their long and generous hospitality and their very fruitful collaboration, in particular and by alphabetical order: Emmanuel Côtez and Thierry Deroin for their ongoing support and advice, Florent Martos for his help and collaboration, and many interesting conversations. Congratulations to Roger Lala for his fine line drawing of the new plant. Many thanks to the two reviewers, Marie Stella Jagou and Thierry Pailler (La Réunion University), who greatly contributed to improve the paper and suggested scientific improvements.</p
